Strength and hope for friends and families of problem drinkers There are no dues or fees in Al-Anon and Alateen meetings. Most groups pass a basket for voluntary contributions. Al-Anon Family Groups is a spiritual fellowship, not a religious one. Discussion of specific religious doctrine is avoided. Members of all faiths (or of none) are welcome. Additional information Withdrawal symptoms range from a “hangover” after an alcoholic binge to life-threatening seizures. Withdrawal is typically accompanied by a variety of symptoms, many of which can be life threatening if not dealt with in the appropriate manner.
